-50 Years of Austin City Limits, Austin, Texas!
-Recorded live from Austin, Texas, it's Austin City Limits.
Antone's nightclub is one of Austin's most legendary live-music venues.
Starting in 1975, it has been a showcase for blues artists and more for 50 years.
It was the vision and dream of 25-year-old Clifford Antone from Port Arthur, Texas.
-Clifford said, "We're going to open a club and we're going to have just blues."
So it was really great.
And it was also like blues college.
It was a dream come true.
♪♪ -His passion for the music extended beyond just the songs that were on a record and into the people that made it.
♪♪ All these people were family, and he really took care of them and he really helped introduce this music to a whole new generation of people, just truly through his energy and his love for this stuff.
♪♪ -Those memories of all those guys -- Otis Rush, Eddie Taylor, Albert Collins and the big stars, B.B.
King, Bobby Bland, Albert King -- just seeing that all in one place was amazing.
♪♪ -I mean, Clifford, as far as getting the young musicians to play with the older musicians and making sure, like, this thing continued, I think that was his whole life's purpose, was making sure blues stayed alive, stayed vibrant, that the young people were aware of the older people and the older people were aware of the younger people and they were helping to carry this thing forward.
-The blues is the mother of all music.
It's the foundation.
And if you don't like the blues, you probably don't like your mama.
